I wanted to get a thread started for member to offer ideas for building the forum. Right now it's pretty bare and focused solely on customs, but we can use suggestions.

For example, in the WIP/Completed Customs pages, should we set up folders for each member? That way, you can post all your customs in 1 thread.

Also, I'd like to build a "useful pointers for customizing" section. Paint, molding, dremels, etc. That'll take some focus on tracking down the links.

So bring the ideas, and let's make this place somewhere we like to hang out and get inspired from!

I like the idea of setting up folders for each member. It wwill be easier to post items and see each persons work individually. I also think we should have group projects like they do over at joecustoms.

I am not familiar with PHPBB, but I built og13 from the ground up on vbulletin, with no previous experience, so if you need ideas or input, feel free to bounce ideas off of me as well.

And if you do any o-ring customizing events, or have big news to share, whatever, feel free to cross-promote all you want and grow your community as big as you can get it!!

Seriously, most of the good ideas on our site came from the users, so always listen to what they have to say.

It would be cool to see you have a BST area as well, since people need parts to customize.

Also, buy a domain for $13.00 a year, and make the domain name forward to https://oring.forumotion.com/.

For example, say you buy oringwarriors.com.

Then login to godaddy (or whereever you bought it).

Click on oringwarriors.com

Click on domain forwarding.

Point oringwarriors.com to https://oring.forumotion.com/

Click enable masking.

Done.

Here's what this will do.

Anytime anyone types oringwarriors.com, they will go to https://oring.forumotion.com/.

But... they will not see the words https://oring.forumotion.com/.

They will see oringwarriors in the URL and title.

It'll make you look more official.

I do not do that with og13.com, but I do it with ogtoys.com, which secretly points to my ecrater store!

If it's a finished custom, go ahead and start a new thread for them in the Finished Customs forum. If it's something you're still working on, let me know and I'll make you a Work-In-Progress forum to list them in.

All great ideas. Im all for having a group project every couple of month like joecustoms except using O-Ring parts.
My only complaint is that I can never download pictures from my files to this site. If having folder makes it easier Im all for that.

It is pretty easy if you use flickr or photobucket.
I guess is the same way we use to post image here than in Joecustoms or Hisstank.

this^ i think this is required for most images... OG13 has limited gallery space for it's users, but it's not easy to use and doesn't allow for larger sized pics. a web-based photo-hosting service is ideal, though photobucket has become more and more unreliable. i'm actually in the process of moving all my stuff to google photos...

But if we have folders, how is anyone going to know when theres something new in them? That's why I post each of mine in their own thread.
